Creatures of Light – My Near-Death Experience and the Art of Seeing Beyond

Few encounters mark a life so deeply as the one with light.
In the Fall 2023 issue of Vital Signs, the journal of the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS), I shared my story — the eight minutes in which my heart stopped, and I crossed into the infinite.
In that immensity, I met my father again.
I saw colors beyond imagination — whites that turned into rainbows, silence that sang like a symphony.
Since that day, my art has never been the same.
“I see angels all around me. And I follow the light. Not just the light, but that light.”
That journey inspired Dance of the Angels, featured on the cover of Vital Signs, and my book An Extra Life – 8 Minutes in Heaven with My Father.
Every artwork since has become a meditation on what I saw there: beauty as revelation, light as memory, and love as the eternal connection between souls.
